Rules for under age Rugby
The competitions committee would like to draw your attention to the rules that are currently in force for under age rugby in Connacht.
: The date for all age group is 1st. Of January
: Coaches must exchange Team Sheets prior to Kick-Off. Failure by a coach to do this will result in his team forfeiting the points. Team sheets must show players name, IRFU reg. number, date of birth, and position number
:The IRFU Registration cards or copies must be available for inspection before and during the game.
The default kick off time for all games is 12:00 on Sunday (the default kick off time may be different for some leagues), unless an earlier time is previously agreed by both teams in advance. Please remember to inform the league co-ordinator and the referee of fixtures brought forward.
( Note U/13-U/14 and some under 15s are played on a Saturday and clubs must be facilitate.)
Clubs entering two sides in the league or Cup competition must submitted Panel Sheets to the Branch Sec.before the league commence and prior to the cup draw. There must be a minimum of 22 on the "A" panel. The "B" panel has to be listed also, with a minimum of 18 players. New (different) panels may be submitted for the cup.
No movement between panels is allowed, unless in limted circumstances where an application will be considered by the competitions committee
Postponement of the fixtures by the teams involved is not allowed i.e. you can agree to play the fixture early but you may not move the fixture forward of the appointed date.
Any deviations from the league or cup fixture schedule can only take place with the prior agreement of the league co-ordinator.
Players may only field for one fixture in any 48 hour period. (This is an element of welfare policy, no deviations)
The home team is responsible for organising referees, a branch referee must be requested for U13's, U15's, U17's and U19's before Tuesday prior to the fixture. Home clubs may not appoint referees except when no branch official is appointed.
Any decisions made by the league co-ordinators which are disputed may be brought to the competitions committee, whose decision shall be final.
In the event that the facilities of the hosting team become unavailable, then home field is lost and the fixture is to be reversed and played at the original time at the other club.
All teams are under obligation to field at least 1 of their first 2 fixtures in the schedule. Failure to meet this rule will result in elimination from the league, remaining fixtures rendered non-competitive and prior results reversed.
During the course of the league, any team failing to field more than 3 times in total will be eliminated. Failure to meet this rule will result in elimination from the league, remaining fixtures rendered non-competitive and prior results reversed.
Please remember to keep the league co-ordinator informed at all times and remember to keep the referees up to date also.
