Dear Youth Sport Parent, First we want to thank you for registering your child with the West Sedgwick County Basketball League. The league is made up of small communities similar to the one you live in. League members include: Andale, Cheney, Colwich, Conway Springs, Garden Plain, Kingman, St. Mark's & Pretty Prairie. The league is created to give our communities a youth sports league that is a positive experience for everyone involved. The rules are modified for each age group so participants can learn respect for the game, develop skills, play to the best of their abilities and have fun. The league begins with grade 3 and continues through grade 6. Each age division has special rules, such as goal heights to help develop proper shooting techniques, etc. As with any youth activity and sporting event sportsmanship and respect for players, coaches, officials and spectators is very important and must be encouraged and followed at all times. To much pressure to win sometimes makes games unfriendly and too competitive, it becomes the most important part of a game to some people, but dealing with youth, it is important to understand that winning is good, but learning skills, being with friends and having fun is more important than winning. It is important for adults to be the ones to "Set a Good Example" for all children, so we ask that yelling unsportsmanlike or negative comments be kept to yourself and to promote good sportsmanship by cheering for both teams and all the kids involved in the league no matter which community they are from. Our league does have a Code of Conduct for everyone to follow and includes consequences for improper behavior, so once again lets make our league a great experience for everyone involved. Thank you again, West Sedgwick Cournty Basketball League League Code Of Conduct (Short Version) 1. Respect & Sportsmanship is required at all times. 2. No alcohol, tobacco, or drugs are allowed. 3. No negative or derogatory remarks are to be made to anyone at anytime. 4. If you do not follow the code of conduct you will be asked to leave the facility within two (2) minutes or the game will be forfeited. 5. Any act seen as unsportsmanlike conduct by anyone at anytime will be dealt with and that person(s) may be suspended for the next game or the entire season if seen necessary. Setting A Good Example for kids is far more important than winning a youth sport game! WSC League COVID Rules & Guidelines (short version)
